Fractional Ownership — What It Means

You Own It.
We Run It.

When you buy a Palouse Air share, you are purchasing actual title to a percentage of the aircraft — recorded ownership, protected by hull insurance, and recoverable when you exit. This is not a lease. Not a card program. Not charter. You own a piece of the airplane.

We manage 100% of the operational details: maintenance, crew, flight planning, scheduling, fueling, and more. You tell us when you want to depart, where you're going, and when you want to return. Everything else is handled.

Three Numbers to Know

How Fractional Ownership Works

Palouse Air ownership is built on three straightforward components. No hidden fees. No surprises.

01

Capital Purchase Price

CPP

Your one-time investment in a fractional share of the aircraft. Shares start at 1/32 (25 hrs/year) and scale up to 1/2 (400 hrs/year). You receive actual title to the aircraft — and your capital is protected by hull insurance.

02

Monthly Management Fee

MMF

Covers all fixed costs: hangar rental, insurance, crew salaries, software, and management. Billed at the start of each month. Decreases by 5% at each higher ownership level.

03

Hourly Rate

HOBBS Time

Paid only when the aircraft is running. Covers fuel, maintenance reserves, engine, and parts. Unlike charter, you receive free Guaranteed Hours and free Repositioning Hours based on your ownership level.

01

Choose Your Share

Select an ownership level based on how many hours you expect to fly — from 25 hours/year up to 400. You own actual title to that percentage of the aircraft.

02

Reserve Your Hours

Book guaranteed hours with as little as 8 hours' notice, or plan up to 8–12 months ahead. Hours roll over — and unused hours stay available for up to 18 months.

03

Arrive & Depart

Drive to KPUW (Pullman/Moscow) or KLWS (Lewiston/Clarkston). No TSA, no terminals, no waiting. Your pilot and aircraft are ready. We'll even have a rental car waiting for you at your destination.

04

Arrive Refreshed

Use the cabin as your boardroom in the sky — or simply relax. Arrive at your destination ready to perform, not exhausted from a day of commercial travel.

Into the Wilderness

Idaho is home to the Frank Church-River of No Return Wilderness — the largest roadless area in the lower 48. Over two dozen sanctioned backcountry airstrips give PC-12 owners access to some of North America's most spectacular remote terrain: the Middle Fork of the Salmon, Selway-Bitterroot, and beyond. Johnson Creek (3J2), a manicured 3,500-foot grass strip in Valley County, is the state's most celebrated backcountry destination — with hot showers, WiFi, and firewood waiting at the end of the flight.

Who We Are

Built for the Palouse. Built for You.

Palouse Air was founded with a simple belief: the people and businesses driving the Palouse economy deserve a smarter way to fly. We serve our neighbors in Pullman, WA and Moscow, ID — based at Pullman-Moscow Regional Airport (KPUW) — and also serve the greater region including Lewiston, ID and Clarkston, WA.

We manage 100% of ownership responsibilities so you can focus on what matters. Ownership can be purchased individually or by your company — giving your entire organization access to the aircraft hours in your ownership tier.

Your initial capital contribution is a one-time investment. If you ever decide to exit, you can sell your share and receive your contribution back. We even offer brokerage services to facilitate the sale.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked

Anyone — individual or organization — looking to maximize their value by minimizing travel time. Palouse Air works for business executives, companies moving employees efficiently, and families who want the flexibility of private travel without the full burden of sole aircraft ownership.

Yes. Ownership can be purchased by individuals or organizations. If your company buys in, anyone in your organization can use the flight hours allotted to your ownership level — making it a powerful tool for moving your team efficiently across the region.

No. Your Capital Purchase Price is a one-time investment. You are buying a percentage of the actual aircraft you will fly in. The aircraft is insured for its hull value — protecting your capital. If you exit the program, you receive your initial contribution back through a private sale of your share.

Guaranteed Hours are the flight hours you are guaranteed each month, based on your ownership level. You can book them with as little as 8 hours' notice, and schedule them as far out as 8–12 months in advance (depending on your tier). Unused hours roll over and can be banked for up to 18 months.

Open Hours are additional hours beyond your Guaranteed Monthly Hours. You can book unlimited Open Hours at the Open Hourly Rate, but they are only confirmed within 2 weeks of your departure. You cannot book Open Hours if you have Guaranteed Hours available to use.

There are two types of costs. Fixed costs (covered by the Monthly Management Fee): hangaring, insurance, GPS data updates, charts, cleaning, crew salaries, and management. Variable costs (covered by the Hourly Rate): fuel, scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, and parts. On some flights, additional charges may apply — landing fees, FBO charges, catering, ground transport, or crew travel expenses when the aircraft overnights away from KPUW. All charges are itemized and billed transparently.

Palouse Air minimizes conflicts by giving priority to higher ownership levels. Once Guaranteed Hours are scheduled, they are protected. Open Hours scheduled more than 2 weeks ahead can be bumped by Guaranteed Hour owners — but Open Hours locked in within 2 weeks of departure cannot. Owners can also negotiate and trade guaranteed hours with each other.

Tier priority also carries a scheduling window advantage: higher tiers can book further in advance, which means they're more likely to be first on the calendar — and booking order determines repositioning responsibility. Being first protects you from unexpected repositioning costs caused by later bookings.

You may sell your ownership percentage to another party (Palouse Air must approve the sale process). If you sell on your own, you receive 100% of the sale price. If Palouse Air brokers the sale, a 10% commission applies. You may also split and sell to multiple parties. Palouse Air does not buy back shares directly.

A repositioning flight is an empty leg the aircraft must fly to reach you — or return home — because it's committed elsewhere. Because all bookings are round-trip, the scheduling system always knows where the aircraft will be at any future date. If your booking would require a repositioning flight, you'll see that cost clearly before you confirm.

Repositioning responsibility follows booking order: the owner whose booking creates the repositioning need pays for it. If your trip was already on the calendar, any later booking that moves the aircraft mid-trip is the responsibility of the owner who booked second — not you. Free repositioning hours on your account can be applied at booking to offset that cost. If you have none remaining, the repositioning legs are billed at your standard hourly rate.

Higher ownership tiers carry a built-in advantage here: the further out you can schedule, the more likely you are to be first on the calendar — and first-booked means repositioning-protected.

You are only charged for actual flight time — never for days the aircraft sits on the ground. A four-day trip to Los Angeles is billed as two legs: the outbound and the return. What happens in between doesn't affect your hourly charges.

When the aircraft overnights away from KPUW, crew expenses — hotel and per diem — are billed as pass-through costs on your trip invoice. Palouse Air will always select the most cost-effective crew arrangement for your trip. If you have a preference for how the crew is handled, let us know and we'll accommodate it. All charges are itemized clearly — no surprises.

All bookings are round-trip at minimum — your return leg must be confirmed when you book. Multi-leg trips are welcome, as long as the trip concludes back at KPUW or KLWS. This keeps the aircraft schedule fully visible at all times, which means any potential repositioning costs are flagged immediately at booking rather than surfacing as a surprise later.

Flight costs shown on this site reflect one-way pricing. Your actual minimum trip cost is the round-trip total.

Yes. Ownership is open to anyone in the region. If you're not based near KPUW or KLWS, repositioning flights between your home airport and our base would be billed as part of your trips — your free repositioning hours apply toward those legs. Many owners find the economics still work well, particularly at higher ownership tiers.

If there's sufficient interest in a market like Spokane or the Tri-Cities, we intend to expand our fleet and base an aircraft locally — eliminating the repositioning cost entirely for owners in that area. Reach out and let us know where you are. We'll keep you informed as our plans develop.

Nearly any public-use airport in North America, Central America, and South America — over 10,000 airports total. To put that in perspective, United Airlines flies to only 210 domestic airports. At nearly every airport, you'll have access to a free Crew Car or rental car when you step off the plane.

Beyond the Palouse

Flying from Spokane
or Elsewhere in the PNW?

Palouse Air ownership isn't limited to the Pullman-Moscow corridor. If you're based in Spokane, the Tri-Cities, or anywhere else in the Pacific Northwest, you're welcome to participate in the current program. Repositioning flights between your area and our home base would be billed as part of your trip — and your free repositioning hours apply.

If we see enough interest in a market, we'll expand our fleet and base an aircraft locally — bringing the full Palouse Air experience to your backyard. We'd love to hear from you.
